Dreams... a natural phenomenon which occurs to every living human being, can have a big impact on our lives. In fact, most of the dreams do have their significance and could help us to plan, prepare and pray for the unexpected outcome or fate.
BASIC FACTS ABOUT DREAMS
Holy prophet Muhammad is reported
to have said that the "dream shall be
told only to a trust worthy and sincere person who could give a good
interpretation even of bad dreams as many effects of most dreams depend upon
their interpretation (Tabeer). Better the interpretation is, nicer would be
the ultimate effect or vice versa.
It must also be noted that while sleeping (the body state in which dreams occur), the posture and physical condition is of utmost importance. Lying on right lateral position (Lying on right side) is an ideal condition, considered as "Sunnat", a tradition practiced by our dear holy prophet and recommended by many. The next acceptable position is lying on back, with face toward the roof/ceiling. However, lying on abdomen (face down) is not recommended and should ideally be avoided.
There are some dreams which are meaningless and occur because of inner physical condition of a person i.e. dreams during illness or disease, or dreams which occur when the bladder is full and the person has urge to urinate but still prefers to sleep. The dreams of a literature person are supposed to be better than an illiterate one. Similarly dreams of old people are better than those of young ones. In addition, dreams of pious people are better than those of sinners. Imam Jafer-e-Sadiq is reported to have said that the dream seen before or at 1:00 am could show its result after one year and the dream before 2:00 am will show its result after six months. Similarly, the dreams seen before or at 3:00 am & 4:00 am would show their results after three and one month respectively. But the most fast results are obtained with the dream seen in the morning.
INTERPRETATION OF DREAMS
Dreams can interpreted on three basis.:
1- The lunar date of the night the dream was seen.
2- The specific time of the night the dream was seen.
3- The specific details which were seen during the dream.
